Fix CD/DVD Drive Not Able To Detect Compact Discs

CD/DVD drive not being able to detect compact discs is one of the common issues when upgrading to Windows 11 or installing other software that affects it. Deleting the upper and lower filters in the registry can fix this problem. To remove these filters:
- Create a restore point: https://www.desktoolssoft.com/helpdesk/kb/faq.php?id=41
- Click the Windows Start button, then type registry editor.
- Under Best match, click Registry Editor.
- In the pop-up Registry Editor window, expand the following folders:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (double click or click the ">" before it.)
- SYSTEM
- CurrentControlSet
- Control
- Class
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (double click or click the ">" before it.)
- Under the Class key, look for the key name: {4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
- In the right pane, under the Name column, you will see the UpperFilters and LowerFilters values. Right-click each value and select Delete.
- Restart your PC, insert a CD/DVD disc and check if Windows can detect it.
